  • Tylissos – small town near Heraklion. Nearby are the three Minoan villas of Tylissos; many artifacts are displayed in the Heraklion Archaeological Museum.

  • Krousonas Village – mountain village at the foot of Psiloritis. Home to St. Irene Monastery at 630 m altitude.

  • Agios Myronas Village – named after St. Myron, bishop of Crete. His tomb and relics are in the main church. The saint’s spring and cell are pilgrimage sites.

  • Ancient City of Rizinia – ruins on Pateles Hill in central Crete. On the cliff edge stands St. Panteleimon Church with panoramic views. Nearby roadside: Neolithic tombs.

  • Agios Thomas Village – ancient cult center, one of Crete’s most mystical places. Features Gria Mantra rock-cut tombs, numerous churches, the rock temple of Ioasaf, the “gate to hell” in Kera Spiliotissa Church, and Kavalaris, the village’s symbol.

  • Gergeri – large village with Rouvas mineral springs, watermills, and fountains. Prophet Elias Church offers views over the Messara plain. Hosts an Olive Museum and Natural History Museum.

  • Zaros – artificial lake and mineral springs. The lake has large fish, ducks, and turtles, surrounded by greenery, ideal for rest after long routes.
