AMAZONAS PARK

Amazonas Park is located in northern eastern Crete, near the village of Neapoli in the Lasithi region, about 20–25 minutes from Agios Nikolaos. It is situated on a hillside area with views of the surrounding countryside.

The park was founded in 2011 as a private zoo and wildlife sanctuary focused on animal care and conservation. It was created to provide a safe environment for rescued and protected animals, especially exotic birds and mammals that had previously been kept in poor conditions or illegal trade.

Amazonas Park is known for its interactive experience with animals, particularly parrots, monkeys, and lemurs. Visitors can walk through the park’s enclosures, observe animals in natural-like habitats, and take part in scheduled feeding sessions where lemurs and other animals can be fed under supervision.

Today, the park operates as a family-friendly wildlife attraction combining education and conservation. It is popular for short visits and guided experiences, offering close contact with animals in a controlled environment and focusing on awareness of biodiversity and animal protection.
