Arkadi Monastery
Founded in the 11th century, Arkadi Monastery is one of the most significant religious and historical monuments of Crete. It is an important pilgrimage destination for Christians from all over the world and a symbol of the island’s struggle for freedom. During the visit, guests can explore the monastery’s impressive church, the main place of worship, as well as the historic refectory where monks once gathered for meals. The tour also includes the monks’ cells, traditional wine and olive oil cellars, the famous gunpowder room associated with the events of 1866, a museum dedicated to monastic life, an exhibition of religious relics, and an art gallery showcasing ecclesiastical treasures. Daily services are held at 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Spili Village
