  • Tylissos – is a small town near Heraklion. It boasts an archaeological site of the same name (entrance fee: 5 euros). The main attractions include the three Minoan villas of Tylissos, an ancient water supply system with a reservoir, and many artifacts on display in the Heraklion Archaeological Museum.

  • Krousonas Village – mountain village at the foot of Psiloritis. Home to St. Irene Monastery at 630 m altitude.

  • Agios Myronas Village – named after St. Myron, bishop of Crete. His tomb and relics are in the main church. The saint’s spring and cell are pilgrimage sites.

  • Ancient City of Rizinia – a ruin on Pateles Hill in central Crete. The church of Saint Panteleimon stands on the edge of the cliff. The hill offers a stunning panoramic view of central Crete. The walk from the parking lot is about 20 minutes. Near the road are Neolithic tombs, some of which have been studied.

  • Agios Thomas Village – ancient cult center, one of Crete’s most mystical places. Features Gria Mantra rock-cut tombs, numerous churches, the rock temple of Ioasaf, the “gate to hell” in Kera Spiliotissa Church, and Kavalaris, the village’s symbol.

  • Zaros – artificial lake and mineral springs. The lake has large fish, ducks, and turtles, surrounded by greenery, ideal for rest after long routes.
