Tylissos – is a small town near Heraklion. It boasts an archaeological site of the same name (entrance fee: 5 euros). The main attractions include the three Minoan villas of Tylissos, an ancient water supply system with a reservoir, and many artifacts on display in the Heraklion Archaeological Museum.
Krousonas Village – mountain village at the foot of Psiloritis. Home to St. Irene Monastery at 630 m altitude.
Agios Myronas Village – named after St. Myron, bishop of Crete. His tomb and relics are in the main church. The saint’s spring and cell are pilgrimage sites.
Ancient City of Rizinia – a ruin on Pateles Hill in central Crete. The church of Saint Panteleimon stands on the edge of the cliff. The hill offers a stunning panoramic view of central Crete. The walk from the parking lot is about 20 minutes. Near the road are Neolithic tombs, some of which have been studied.
Agios Thomas Village – ancient cult center, one of Crete’s most mystical places. Features Gria Mantra rock-cut tombs, numerous churches, the rock temple of Ioasaf, the “gate to hell” in Kera Spiliotissa Church, and Kavalaris, the village’s symbol.
